WHO ARE WE?

The Goodwill Fund was set up in approximately 1962 by a group of villagers who decided to hold a Show and Sale, initially to raise funds for a party at Christmas for the children of Wrestlingworth. Originally, the charity was named the Chequer’s Welfare, but was soon renamed as the Wrestlingworth Goodwill Fund.

WHAT DO WE DO?

Gifts are given to newcomers, to anyone who has been in hospital, or who is celebrating the birth of a baby. We support local children with a science award and young people 18+ going on to study with a resources award. We help Father Christmas deliver parcels to the over 65’s.

And, over the years, a small band of wonderful volunteers have enabled us to provide a transport service to residents, who are otherwise unable to get to local hospitals and doctors. Margaret Pantry is the kind lady that runs our doctor/hospital transport service and she can be contacted on 01767 631548.

EVENTS?

Our main fund raising event is the village fete, which is traditionally held in the field behind The Chequers Pub. We hold two quizzes per year, usually held in The Memorial Hall. Another popular annual event is our Tea Party for the over 65’s. We have also organised Scavenger Hunts for the little ones.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

We are now in desperate need of volunteers to help out, either join the committee, be a driver, or just become a friend and help out at fundraising events. We are down to just 2 committee members, and we can no longer run the charity and events on such limited numbers. Our popular events are at risk of being cancelled this year.
