When you read this we will already have held our Spring Quiz - thank you to all who supported us. A date to put in your diary is the November 23rd when we will be holding our next Quiz. We held our Senior Citizens’ Tea Party in April which was a lovely afternoon. (See the cover photo.) The food was delicious and the entertainment by singer Dave Parry was lively and fun. A huge thank you to all the committee for their hard work in making this such a success and also to all those who baked and donated the tasty cakes and scones for the occasion. The hall looked very welcoming and we would like to thank Helen and Neil Pinnington who kindly lent us the bunting and beautiful china for the event. We would also like to thank all those who helped in the kitchen (particularly Brenda and Theresa) with preparing and serving the food and also our Junior citizens Jessica, Daisy, Imogen and Emilia who were amazing at serving tea, clearing tables and chatting with visitors – well done all of you for joining us. We were sad to hear of the death of Millie Lewis who was a great supporter of The Wrestlingworth Goodwill. We were honoured to be told by Millie’s family that donations in memory of Millie will be given to the Goodwill fund, for which we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who donated in her memory. 27 We are beginning preparations for one of the main village events of the year - The Goodwill Summer Fete - which will be held on Saturday 7th September from 2-5pm and would like to ask if you could start saving items for the White Elephant Stall. We will update you on collections of items closer to the time. If you feel able to help in any way before or on the day, please contact us on info@wrestlingworthgoodwillfund.org.uk or ring Geoffrey on 07720 805620. A REMINDER to all our 16+ young people from the four villages, who will be joining new courses in September 2024 at college, university or starting apprenticeships. The Goodwill offers grants to help you with any course material, resources or equipment you may require to start your course. Please contact the Goodwill on info@wrestlingworthgoodwillfund.org.uk for an application form which should be submitted in early September once your entries have been confirmed. Our Ambulance service is up and running - a big thank you to those of you who have volunteered to be drivers. The service runs in Wrestlingworth, Cockayne Hatley, Tadlow and Eyeworth. Please make use of this service if you are in need of help to get to the surgery or to the hospital for an appointment. Contact our coordinator Margaret Pantry whose details are in the Handy Phone Numbers page in the back of this magazine. Also we are always keen to hear from new volunteer drivers. If you know of any births, new arrivals moving into the village or people who have been in hospital, please let us know so we can deliver a gift. If you have become a pensioner, please let us know so we can add you to our list for Christmas and the Tea Party. We are in the process of updating our list of “friends” who help the committee at events. If you would like to help, please email info@wrestlingworthgoodwillfund.org or contact Geoffrey on 07720 805620. Thank you for your support,
