Father Christmas is coming, 13th and 14th December!
Elsewhere in the magazine is a poster, but in case you missed it, Father
Christmas will be visiting our villages on Saturday 13th and Sunday
14th. Starting at 1pm on both days he will be travelling through Cockayne
Hatley, Eyeworth and Tadlow on Saturday, and then Wrestlingworth on
Sunday.
Santa’s Goodwill elves will be helping him with his sleigh and distributing
cards and presents to all pensioners in our area, and if there’s any children he
sees on the route then he may well have a present for them as well.
If you have recently come of pensionable age, or you know someone who
doesn’t receive a gift or an invite to the Pensioners Tea Party we organise in
Spring each year, please do let us know so we can add you to our list. If
you’d prefer a diabetic gift, please also let us know.
Goodwill Quiz, Saturday 25th October
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our second Quiz of the year in the
Wrestlingworth Memorial Hall. We had a really good evening with 8 teams
battling it out over 8 rounds including topics as diverse as Music, Phobias,
Company Logos and Bird Names. Congratulations to the winning team
‘Scumbag College’.
We raised £435 for Goodwill Funds, so a big thank-you to everyone who
came and made it such a success.
Our next quiz will be in the Spring - more details to come.
Goodwill AGM, Thursday 12th February
The Wrestlingworth Goodwill Fund is a registered charity that supports the 4
villages of Wrestlingworth, Cockayne Hatley, Eyeworth and Tadlow with
goodwill gifts to newborn babies, new arrivals in our villages or following a
hospital stay. We have regular events such as the Pensioners Tea Party, Santa
Run and of course the ‘ambulance’ service that provides transport to doctor
or hospital appointments to anyone who needs one. (Contact Margaret Pantry
- see useful numbers on the back page if you need to use the service). We
fund resource awards to those starting at college or university and we support
16
specific things in our villages like equipment for Wrestlingworth Lower
School and the defibrillator for Eyeworth.
If you want to learn more about what Goodwill does, how we raised and
spent our money in 2025, or would like to help us either as a committee
member or as a Friend of Goodwill, please do join us for our AGM which
will be from 7:30pm in the Wrestlingworth Memorial Hall.
