We are delighted to be able to confirm that we’ll be holding the Goodwill Summer Fete on the Amenity Field behind the Chequers from 2-5pm on Saturday 7th September. We have a packed line-up of activities in the afternoon including our fun dog show, live entertainment, a mini-stage play performance, and possibly for the first time at the summer fete, a tug-of-war competition. We’ll open registration for the dog show and tug of war at 2pm, but it would help if you could let us know if you are planning on taking part so we know numbers. Alongside the central ring entertainment we have a huge number of side-shows, our own village organisations, trade-stalls, face painting, BBQ, teas cakes and refreshments, the popular china-smash, water or wine?, guess the sweets in the jar, etc, etc. There should be something for everyone and we do hope you will be able to come down and enjoy the fun. We will once again be running our grand raffle with a top cash prize of £100 and many other prizes kindly donated by local businesses and individuals. We will be distributing the fete programme and selling raffle tickets around the villages so please do look out for us during August, as well as having them available on the day. As well as coming and supporting the event in the afternoon we would really appreciate a few extra hands to help the committee in setting up the field and running some of the side-shows, and then helping to clear up afterwards. If you can help us, even for a few hours, please do let Geoffrey know on 07720 805620 or email: geoffrey@wrestlingworthgoodwillfund.org.uk 29

16+ Resource Award We are now accepting applications for the Goodwill 16+ resource award for any young people from the four villages (Wrestlingworth, Cockayne Hatley, Eyeworth and Tadlow) who are starting college, university or apprenticeships this year. Goodwill offers grants to help you with the costs of course materials, equipment you may need or resources required at the start of your course. Application forms are available by emailing info@wrestlingworthgoodwillfund.org.uk and must be submitted by the closing date of Sunday 8th September 2024. Autumn Quiz Thank you for everyone who attended the Spring quiz - we raised over £200 for Goodwill. Our next quiz will be held at the Wrestlingworth Memorial Hall on Saturday 19th October so please book the date in your diary. Note - this is a change of date from that advised in the last Village Link Magazine. And finally, help wanted Goodwill exists to serve the residents of our villages, through the Pensioners Tea Party, 16+ Resource Awards, grants for individuals in hardship, the popular ‘ambulance service’ to hospital, doctor and dentist appointments, and of course the ‘Santa run’ giving presents to Pensioners and local children. As well as the small and dedicated committee, we are very kindly supported by a number of Friends of Goodwill. So if that sounds like something you’d like to get involved with and you can lend a hand, please contact Geoffrey on 07720 805620 or email Geoffrey@wrestlingworthgoodwillfund.org.uk Thank you for your support,
