Just a short update this month as the Village Link Magazine has a large number of pages from Goodwill following the hugely successful Four Villages Art Competitionthat recently concluded. A big thanks to Wendy Baker for championing, organising, finding judges and running the event which had over 30 entries across Photography, Art, Short Story and Poem categories.
The competition winners are all included in this issue of the VLM (thanks Simon!), and all the entrants are on the Facebook group.
We are planning on running the event again in the future, so if you have any feedback or suggestions, please do let us know.
The Goodwill AGM was held in February and a thank to the committee members who stood for re-election and the Friends of Goodwill who have supported us throughout the year and at the AGM. Special recognition must be given to our volunteer drivers who provide the Goodwill ‘ambulance’ service and to Margaret Pantry for co-ordinating requests and drivers. In 2025 we delivered 92 trips with Addenbrookes being once again the most popular destination, but we went as far afield as Finchley, Ely, Shefford and Moggerhanger. Not just hospital visits but also dentists, opticians, physio and doctors appointments. If you need assistance getting to an appointment, do use the service.
We very much rely on our volunteer drivers (you know who you all are), and if anyone else is able to join them providing occasional trips, please do contact Margaret. Mileage is reimbursed by Goodwill and any parking costs paid by the service user.
By the time you receive this copy we will have hosted the Pensioners Tea Party, our next events are the Quiz on Saturday 18th April and then Big Breakfast on Sunday 31st May, all in the Wrestlingworth Memorial Hall. We are also planning an event for youngsters in the Autumn, more details to follow.
